World Archaeology Summit

Royal Commission for AlUla, Saudi Arabia

September 2023 – June 2024

In September 2023, I was invited by the Royal Commission for AlUla to speak at the AlUla World Archaeology Summit about my work supporting public engagement with heritage.

I was subsequently asked by the RCU to conduct research on the societal and economic benefits that heritage revitalisation projects and the development of cultural tourism are bringing to local communities in AlUla. Based on this research, I wrote a paper on socially sustainable heritage development, published by the Royal Society for Asian Affairs, with AlUla as a crucial case study.
