Shaikh Mahmoud Museum

Sulaimani, Kurdistan Region of Iraq

March 2024 – present

In collaboration with the Civil Development Organization (CDO) in Sulaimani, I produced a development plan for a museum about the historical Kurdish leader Shaikh Mahmoud and relations between Kurdistan and Britain during and after World War I.

In March 2024, our proposal was awarded with funding by the international development agency TARII (American Research Institute in Iraq). The museum will be housed in the former home of Shaikh Mahmoud which was later occupied by the British administration.

In recent years the building had fallen into a poor state of repair, and is now undergoing extensive restoration. I have been appointed to the Museum Board to oversee the museum’s development.
