Shaikh Mahmoud Museum

Sulaimani, Kurdistan Region of Iraq

March 2024 – December 2025

In collaboration with the Civil Development Organization (CDO) in Sulaimani, I produced a development plan for a museum about the historical Kurdish leader Shaikh Mahmoud and relations between Kurdistan and Britain during and after World War I.

In March 2024, our proposal was awarded with funding by the international development agency TARII (The American Research Institute in Iraq). I was appointed to the Museum Board to oversee the museum’s development.

The museum is housed in the former home of Shaikh Mahmoud which was later occupied by the British administration. In recent years the building had fallen into a poor state of repair, and required extensive restoration.
